This version of the story of King Arthur is very different because it is told from the point of view of Merlin and in the form of a prophecy. It is therefore written in the FUTURE TENSE.
Ask students to:
- Identify the point at which the tense shifts from past to future.
- Explain how puctuation is used to remind us of the point of view and prophecy form.
- Choose a section of the story and rewrite it in the past tense.
- Rewrite a section in the present tense and think of a point of view, situation, or form in which the present tense would be the correct tense to use.
- Take any other past event and rewrite it in the future tense as a prophecy - try writing your history homework in this way!
